Company History


May 1962 Private enterprise established by Hiroshi Yazaki in Iwata City, Shizuoka prefecture, principal business of manufacture and sale of molded plastic products.
Oct 1964 Reorganized business to form Yazaki Plastics Industries, Ltd.
Hiroyoshi Yazaki appointed President and CEO.
Mar 1966 Relocated plant and headquarters to current location as part overall modernization plan.
Nov 1969 Completed the injection molding plant. Precision injection molding group begins molding PA bearing retainer for NTN Corporation.
Apr 1971 Completed the blow molding plant. Developed HDPE fuel tank in collaboration with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. (Mitsui Chemicals Co. Ltd.).
Dec 1974 First (Japanese) factory approved by Phillips Petroleum Company to mold Ryton® PPS resin.
Feb 1980 Patented BBM Blow molding method (for high gloss parts). Began producing fuel tanks for motorcycle OEM's using this method.
Jul 1980 Opened delivery center in Owara, Iwata City.
Feb 1982 Opened manufacturing and assembly plant #2 in Iwata county.
Jan 1984 Incorporated to form Yazaki Corporation
Oct 1993 Signed sublicensing agreement with Mitsui Petrochemical Industries Ltd. (Mitsui Chemicals Co., Ltd.) for Selar® material.
May 1999 Completed ISO9002:1994 quality certification.
Aug 1999 Expanded Plant #2 with new factory.
Oct 2000 Completed ISO14000:1994 environmental certification.
Jun 2003 Completed ISO9001:2000 migration.
Mar 2005 Installed 6 layer blow-molding machine for multi-layer barrier containers.
Dec 2005 Completed ISO14000:2004 migration.
Mar 2006 Installed Fluorination treatment facility.
May 2006 Installed second 6-layer blow-molding machine.
Jan 2007 Began production of CARB and EPA compliant fuel tanks with Fluorination treatment.
Mar 2007 Began production of CARB and EPA compliant multi-layer fuel tanks.
Mar 2007 Acquired land adjacent to Plant #2 of 17,933m².
Nov 2007 Opened 14,800m² new office space at Plant #2.
Nov 2009 Established American Yazaki Corporation (AYC Plastics) in Gainesville, Georgia USA site area 74,462m² building area 4,180m².
Apr 2013 Building expansion at American Yazaki Corporation (AYC Plastics) of 5,109m²
Feb 2014 Naoyuki Yazaki appointed President and CEO.
Feb 2015 Building expansion at American Yazaki Corporation (AYC Plastics) of 7,060m²
Jul 2015 Suzukipura LTD merges with Yazaki’s #3 factory.
