Privacy Policy

Yazaki Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") believes that it is our social responsibility to handle personal information appropriately in the course of our business activities, and we will protect our customers' personal information under the following policy.

1.Definition of personal information

"Personal information" refers to "personal information" as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act, and refers to information about a living individual that can identify the specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, or other description contained in the information, as well as information that can identify the specific individual by itself (personally identifiable information), such as appearance, fingerprint, voiceprint data, and health insurance card insurer number.

2.Acquisition and use of personal information

The Company will acquire, use and provide personal information appropriately considering the nature and scale of our business. Personal information shall be collected within the scope of legitimate business activities, for clearly defined purposes of use, and to the extent necessary to achieve those purposes. In addition, the use and provision of personal information shall be performed within the scope of the purpose of use for which consent has been obtained from the person who provided the personal information. The Company will not handle such personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the specified purpose of use. When handling personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use, the Company will obtain the prior consent of the individual concerned.

3.Purpose of use of personal information

The Company will use customers' personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide our products
  • To respond to consultations and inquiries from customers
  • To contact customers as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
  • To conduct research and analysis for the purpose of developing new products and improving product quality
  • To conduct research and analysis for the purpose of making proposals to customers and for marketing purposes
  • To provide employment information to applicants in recruitment activities, to contact them, and to make selections

4.Change of purpose of use

If the Company changes the purposes of use described in the previous paragraph, the Company will notify or publicly announce the changed purposes of use to the customer through a public announcement on the Company's website or by any other method the Company deems appropriate.

5.Disclosure and provision to third parties

The Company will appropriately manage personal information obtained from customers and will not provide such information to any third party without obtaining prior consent from the customer. However, the following cases are excluded:

  1. When required by law
  2. When it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person involved
  3. When it is especially necessary to improve public health or to promote the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person involved
  4. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or an individual entrusted by either of the former two in performing their duties as prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the person involved would impede the performance of those duties
  5. When the handling of personal information is entrusted to a third party within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  6. In the case of succession of business due to merger, company split, transfer of business, or other reasons

6.Handling of anonymously and pseudo-anonymously processed information

When the Company creates anonymously or pseudo-anonymously processed information, the Company will do so appropriately in accordance with the law regarding personal information protection and other laws and regulations.

7.Entrusting to a Third Party

The Company may entrust all or part of the work which handles personal information to a third party within the scope necessary to accomplish the purposes set out in Article 3. In such an event, the Company shall supervise the entrustee as necessary and appropriate in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

8.Procedure to Request Disclosure

When the disclosure of personal information is requested by a customer in accordance with the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Company shall promptly disclose the information after confirming that the request comes from the customer himself/herself. (If the relevant personal information does not exist, such notification shall be given.) However, if the Company is not obligated to disclose the information based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws, then this case shall be excepted.

9.Acquisition, Use, Provision of Information Linked to Cookies

Cookies are a function of a customer's web browser which stores information when they view a website. The stored information does not include anything which could be used to identify a customers, such as their name, address, or telephone number. The Company's website may use browsing data gathered through Cookies and other similar technology (hereinafter referred to as "Cookies") for the following purposes. ・Improving the user-friendliness of the Company's website and maintaining and improving its quality
